Community Development

Many of our clients, as well as most governmental entities in South Georgia, do not have an on-staff engineer. South Georgia as a whole has experienced a tremendous amount of growth in many rural areas, and Watkins & Associates, L.L.C. has been able to assist local government with plan reviews of proposed developments within their communities with regard to compliance with local, state and federal guidelines, standards and specifications as it relates to roadways, stormwater, water and wastewater infrastructure, etc.

Our engineers also issue site development activity permits (SDAPs), inspect active SDAP sites, and review preliminary land use applications for compliance with adopted engineering codes. Watkins & Associates, L.L.C. has assisted our clients with numerous community development projects from the initial conception of the idea, design development stage, plan review and approval, and construction inspection and review. Whatever a community needs, the staff at Watkins & Associates, L.L.C. makes sure they find a way to suit our clients’ desires.

Watkins & Associates, L.L.C.’s mission is to assist our clients in enhancing the various aspects of proposed developments located within their communities. Many consulting engineering firms try to perform consulting services to both the developer and the local government on a single project or various projects within their community. Our experiences over the years have concluded that this will eventually lead to a conflict of interest. Watkins & Associates, L.L.C. firmly believes it is in the best interest of all parties to represent one side, our client, which is typically the local government.

Watkins & Associates, L.L.C. has also been successful in other forms of community development. Numerous projects for cities and counties have been funded through the Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program in the form of various water, sewer, street and drainage improvement projects as well as redevelopment projects.
